Abstract
How can we motivate our children to be active? This question has received significant attention in the past 20 years in our society and throughout the world. In days past, this question was not one of concern, as the children were working hard to help their families sustain their farms or businesses. Children often looked at their time away from family responsibilities as time to escape outdoors to play and have fun. Unfortunately, there has been a shift in our culture within the past 20 years towards a more sedentary type of lifestyle, embracing technology with all its time saving features and entertainment possibilities.
