Description
In AY 17-18, INTO Mason formed the Faculty Learning Community on Mentoring, with a grant from the Stearns Center (Mason’s campus-wide teaching and learning center). Throughout the academic year, the community studied best practices on mentoring, conducted a literature review, delegated two representatives to attend a national mentoring conference, and ultimately developed the framework for the first phase of our mentoring program, which we hope to launch in August 2018. This session aims to share our findings and our process, and to solicit assistance from other centers about their mentoring programs and opportunities, in order to enrich our fledgling program on mentoring. We hope our mentoring program will support a culture of professional support and personal development for our faculty, and we seek other centers’ expertise to guide this endeavor.
