Biographies

Donna Conaty is Professor of Oboe in the Ohio University School of Music and Interim Associate Dean of the College of Fine Arts. She is principal oboe of ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus and for seven seasons performed in the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music Orchestra, conducted by Marin Alsop. As -principal oboist with ProMusica she has been featured repeatedly as a concerto soloist and has performed on seven of the ensemble's commercial compact disc releases. She has performed at International Double Reed society conferences and in 2005 served on the Interlochen Arts Camp faculty. Professor Conaty received the Ohio University School of Music Distinguished Teaching Award in 1995. She holds performance, degrees from Yale University (M.M.) and the University of Northern Colorado (summa cum laude).

Peter Simpson is Professor of Bassoon at the University of Kentucky and the Principal Bassoonist of the Lexington Philharmonic. Simpson has studied in the US and in Europe, and has performed in master classes for many of the world's top bassoonists. About his work, he has written: "My teaching and playing has also been greatly helped by the advice of several practitioners of Alexander Technique http://www.alexandertechnique.com/musicians.htm . I firmly believe that there is more than one way to skin a cat', and I enjoy helping students find their way along the path to good musicianship."
