Description

Unidentified Confederate officer in uniform. His frock coat is typical of those worn by Confederate regiments from Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, etc. Since the cuffs have no color trim attached, we assume he was in the infantry. Signed "H. Duesbury," assumed to be Horace Wolfe Duesbury, 1851-1904. Duesbury was a painter of portraits, landscapes, mountains, rivers, and did most of his portrait work in the 1870’s and 1880’s. Ca. 1870’s, item # 2001.0703.044, 81 x 56 cm.
