Abstract

Since 2013, the BLM movement has emerged as a movement that thrives for the advancement of colored people and combats against institutional racism, mostly against police brutality of colored people. However, I believe that the BLM movement is not focusing on a big chunk of institutional racism - mass incarceration. For my paper, I will examine that the nature of mass incarceration has been fueled by racism and why the BLM movement should combat against mass incarceration because it aligns with their agenda.
