My name is Blayke Murphy I'm a part of the Geography Department at Marshall and grew up in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. I work for an appraisal company based there and have used that background in the housing market to further my education and studying while here. My hobbies include traveling, reading, and taking my dog on many adventures. I've always been interested in geography and the environment so I thought this department was perfect for me.

Abstract
This paper assesses the impact of gentrification on downtown neighborhoods in Cincinnati, Ohio. It also addresses the issues of gentrification from social and economical standpoints and the effects that gentrification has on not only the people in the areas but the housing market as well. There are a lot of discrepancies that go hand in hand with gentrification and this paper's main goal is to bring to light the income discrepancies of residents in places that have been gentrified as well as places that have changed as a direct result of the gentrification. For Example, the median house price for Hyde Park in Cincinnati, Ohio is around $375,000 and not even ten minutes away is Linwood, with a median house price of about $62,000. The housing market isn't the only place that shows discrepancies with gentrification and this is important to understand why gentrification has such drastic impacts on the neighborhoods within city limits such as Cincinnati. Most of the data that addresses this issue comes directly from the census and other housing and real estate websites to accurately show the differences between neighboring areas in Cincinnati that have either gone through gentrification or were pushover areas for gentrification.
